DC

IMG_6615
A few weeks back, right after our camping trip & right before our trip to St. George, Scott & I hopped a plane to DC. He had an office there this summer & I had told him months back that it was the one place I for sure wanted to travel with him this summer. Well long story short, he didn't have to work but we decided to go anyway & see the sights. We were literally there a day & a half but had the greatest time. It poured the entire time we were there but we didn't care. We were the biggest touristas you have ever seen. We walked all over that city in the rain & our only regret was that we didn't have a little bit more time.

THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL
it was just as amazing in person as I thought it would be.

This building (all the buildings were so stately & beautiful, we couldn't get over it) held the constitution, the declaration of Independence, & the bill of rights. Very cool.
ford theater
This was at the Ford Theater where Lincoln was assassinated. This museum/theater was one of our favorite spots. So much history. They have actual plays that still run in this theater. Of course no one sits in that box, but how fun would that be to see a show there.

The national monument. I was a little bit sad that the reflecting pool was under construction.

THE WHITE HOUSE
That's as close as you get. The first lady's garden is right out in front but of course with all the rain she was not out gardening. But I'm sure she's out there daily :)
All of these sights were within walking distance from our hotel. We stayed right on Pennsylvania Avenue.

At the SMITHSONIAN I saw all the first ladies innagural gowns. This one is Obama's.

And the famous Ruby Red Slippers.

Scott found Farrah Fawcett & her swim suit

And the van his family drove growing up.
The Smithsonian was so much fun. We could have spent a few more hours there.

We made a quick trip to the DC temple which was beautiful.

And even caught a few innings of a baseball game. Very important. Very historical :)
All in all a great trip. We want to go back again someday when we have a little more than 24 hours.

So glad that you got to go even though it was a short trip!

I love museums, and the Smithsonian is the mother of them all. When I visit DC one day, I'm totally there. What a fun trip for you guys.

Great pictures! You look gorgeous (like always.) I totally remember Scotty's family van! It was fun growing up around the corner from them.
